The Minnow Lake Community Action Network (CAN) was established by the City of Greater Sudbury to serve as a neighborhood resource for community development and as a source of information and feedback to city council.

The process took place over a period of six months, and involved many of the community leaders and interested citizens.

The first co-chairs of the Minnow Lake CAN are John Lindsay 525-7526 and  Bob King 525-0119.

Minnow Lake Community Action Network Objectives 2004-5

Following public meetings CAN objectives were established and presented in a report to city council.

A skateboard park was endorsed for the Carmichael Arena and sports complex area across from Minnow Lake on Bancroft Drive.  A number of meetings were held to discuss this project.

Development of the Minnow Lake Place site (former St. Jean School property at 1127 Bancroft Drive was identified as a near term and continuing project.

Phase One of the City bicycle route plan was recommended by the group and specifically bike lanes on Howey, Bellevue and Bancroft Drive which would eliminate the centre turning lane  This proposal went before city council and was approved with the bike lanes to be painted on the road surface in the spring of 2005.
